Not to mention that Mary was STILL single when the show ended 7 years later. Mary Richards kind of reminds me of me - I've never been married, and I'm 32. I'm sure the character made a lot of women in that age range back then feel better about their single status.

Monika, as I'm sure you're aware, I'm now the same age that Mary was in "Love is All Around," so yes, she makes me feel much better, too. Although she was already on her own by this point, and I am not! LOL

Being single is not even an issue for me anymore-lol. After 10 years of trying, you start to care less and less.

If I was the age I am now in 1970 I would never be on a date because it wouldn't have been no phone or internet dating and I'm too shy to meet women in public or in a bar or club.
