Confused Do You Think 'Card Sharks' Was One Of The WORST Game Shows Ever?!?

Hosts: Jim Perry, Bob Eubanks, Bill Rafferty, Pat Bullard
Years on TV: 1978 – 2002

We know what you’re thinking – Card Sharks is a classic. Well, yes. But it’s also pretty lame, however fondly you may remember those giant sized cards and contestants screaming “higher!” or “lower!” or “freeze!” The beautiful card dealers featured throughout the series’ run didn’t improve the concept any, but made the rather drab set a little more interesting to look at.

oh really, well since popcruch thinks that Card Sharks was the worst classic game show of all time
then how about this "cult classic" as the worst game show ever:

http://tv.popcrunch.com/wp-content/u...centration.jpg

or this one: http://tv.popcrunch.com.wp-content/uploads/2008/08/sale-of-century.jpg (ignore the thought that the picture is from the uk version ok)

or how about this one:http://tv.popcrunch.com/wp-content/u...u-drop-set.jpg

and this one:http://tv.popcrunch.com/wp-content/u...rket-sweep.jpg

and let's not forget about this "classic" of a game show stinker:http://tv.popcrunch.com/wp-content/u...-lose-draw.jpg

and i heard about this "flop" on NBC from 1984-1990 & 1993:http://tv.popcrunch.com/wp-content/u...8/scrabble.jpg

you see what i mean, popcrunch are idiots who don't know a "classic" or heck any good taste in game shows for that matter if it bites them in the butt.

oh and for the "Nicktards" out their from internetland here's a show from 1993-1995 that popcrunch has put on this list that would make olmec's big jaw drop:http://tv.popcrunch.com/wp-content/u...den-temple.jpg

also Brain Damage, does this show the launched Jeff Probst's "surviving" career is nothing but a big, stinky pile of poop:http://tv.popcrunch.com/wp-content/u...l-jeopardy.jpg

Whoever made that list obviously doesn't know good shows when they truly see them.

I happen to like a handful of game shows on that list.

My apologies. Someone else made a list similar to this one before and I gotten upset with it a bit. I apologize for this.

Scrabble? - There is a reason why this show is the only (and still to this date) successful board game-turned game show, despite the piss-poor cheap production from its 1993 revival.

Sale of the Century - Both the original and 1980s Perry runs were neat in many ways.

Card Sharks - All except Pat Dullard's versions were good.

Legends of the Hidden Temple - was cheesy at times but still a damn enjoyable show.

Rock N Roll J! had several seasons and for good reason too.

Supermarket Sweep was pretty fun and there was a reason why it aired for so many years.

1 vs. 100 - enjoyed this way better than DoND and I'm surprised DoND didn't make this list here when all that show was is just dumb luck. No skills needed whatsoever at all.

I don't think so. I love Card Sharks!
My daughter and I used to play a little version of our own with a deck of cards. Of course, we didn't have the question and answer sessions, but it was still fun.

And I always like to watch a game show that you can play along with. And Card Sharks is one of those game shows.

Any game show with cards that are the size of a Buick is alright with me. It also has the added bonus of people jumping up and down and yelling, 'Higher, Higher!!!' and 'Lower, Lower!!!' 'Card Sharks' was a lot of fun.

I thought the original version, hosted by Jim Perry was one of the best gambling games at that time. I didn't see enough of the Bob Eubanks version because the CBS station ran "Hour Magazine" in iits timeslot but the short-lived version that was hosted by Pat Bullard was extremely awful. The producers made a big mistake by eliminating the survey questions and going to Street Smartslike elements.

If any version of Card Sharks should be labeled one of the worst game shows ever, it's this version:

http://gsgarbage.clw83.com/cs2001.html

The other three versions that were hosted by Jim Perry (1978-81), Bob Eubanks (CBS 1986-89), and Bill Rafferty (Synd. 1986-87) were all fun to watch, though.

Perry’s version of Card Sharks: It was the best

Eubanks’ version of Card Sharks: It was also the best

Rafferty’s version of Card Sharks: It was ok & quite good

Bullard’s version of Card Sharks: It was entirely the worst if not for the Jim Perry mention and the Mark Goodson Production spiel

McHale’s version of Card Sharks: Ok but it should’ve been true to both the 1978-1981 & 1986-1989 incarnations

I avoid CS on Buzzr like the plague.

The survey-of-100 questions are interesting, but attaching it to a game of higher-or-lower never did it for me. There shoulda been a better game to attach survey responses. How to do that, I couldn’t tell you.

I think Wiki said that the card game part was based on Acey-Ducey which I never played.

An even worse Acey-Ducey application:

Did any one of you get to see “The Game Plane”? I only watched it because we had it late Saturday nights like 12:30 am—>

I'm surprised none of you mentioned the Game Show Marathon version with Ricki Lake from 2006, but I digress.
