Default Could these be the "TOP 5" reasons why Maude doesn't do well in syndication?

I was having this discussion on another TV board and this is what I came up with from all the responses.

5. Lot of Dark Humor

4. Too Preachy

3. Too much yelling

2. Bea Aruthur was more popular as Dorothy on Golden Girls

1. The show was too TOPICAL

What do you think?

These were the other reasons people came up with below.

1. The Maude character was unlikable

2. The show didn't have a strong supporting cast

3. There was always a continuous rant about the same topic..."Feminism"

4. Not many people know a person like Maude

If those are the reasons Sol, why did Archie Bunker succeed where Maude failed?

1. More of a family show

2. Better supporting cast

3. AITF still addresses the issues we have in 2012

4. All the characters on AITF stood for something

5. AITF is funnier because it's politically incorrect

This is not me, it's from the discussion I started on another board LOL

I'll agree on most of those points, the characters on 'All in the Family' were more memorable.

But we can expect the show to be gone forever now because no one is going to watch the show ONCE a week at 2am.

Isn't easier for Antenna TV to cancel it-LOL

You are probably right, but like I said, I hope not. Classic shows need to be shown one way or another.

I hope eventially it will be back in the regular rotation. I have been impressed with the way Antenna TV has handled the show until now.

I just don't understand why they didn't make it earlier like 8pm instead of decreasing it and having it air at 2am once a week.

Three's Company may fail in that slot now lol

Yeah they did show two cycles so the opportunity was there for all of us to record it and watch the show whenever we wanted until the DVD came out

Default Maude

I enjoy watching Maude *because* it's so dated. I was born in the middle of its run, and it just feels so ancient to me.

That said, I really only like the earlier seasons, and I can't really stomach any episodes with that awful Mrs. Naugatuck character.

And, obviously, Walter is my favorite character...especially when he's getting sloshed.

At least season one is on DVD, and I can buy it.
