Report: 24 Movie Pushed Back to 2013

First the good news: The 24 movie appears to be back on track after scheduling conflicts between star Kiefer Sutherland and 20th Century Fox recently put the film in limbo.

The bad news? Said scheduling conflicts have delayed Jack Bauer's big screen debut to 2013, according to The Wrap.

"It didn't work out right now. Everyone is trying to figure out how to do it next year," a source close to production told the site.

After Sutherland, along with producer Brian Grazer, clashed with the film studio about his salary and the film's budget earlier this month, production is no longer able to start in April as planned.

Production will now begin sometime in 2013 after the script, written by Shattered Glass scribe Billy Ray, has been worked on by a new writer.

Another reason the movie's production has been pushed back so much is because of Sutherland's previous commitment to the Fox drama "Touch". The show has not yet been renewed, but debuted to big numbers back in January.

If the show gets a second season, filming the movie would have to take place during Touch's spring hiatus.

It is unclear what kind of compromise Fox was able to make with Sutherland and Grazer money-wise. Fox was hoping to make the film for $30 million, while Sutherland and Grazer thought the movie version of the long-running action series could not be produced for less than somewhere around $40 million, according to the site.

Sutherland was also reportedly upset about being offered $1 million to star in and produce the film; he wanted $5 million.
