OK kids, despite some fairly recent promises from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, we have nothing on the DVD release of Seasons 5 and 6 of The Bob Newhart Show but a sham preorder on Amazon.com, and it's also going on six years since the release of Season 4.
So, as promised, here are the email addresses of the head honchos, possibly to be followed by phone numbers down the line. Please take the time to write an email, especially to the first person on the list. Be nice, but try to let your passion for this great show come through. And to be honest, it wouldn't hurt to spell things correctly, either. Get your friends to help. And follow up, too! Good luck, and let the campaign begin! Oh, and if any of you do send an email, maybe you could note that here so I can kind of get an idea of whether people are actually sending them?
Thanks. |

I just sent off an email. It might help if we had a street address for real snail mail, too.

Sorry, I don't have a street address for snail mail.
They have reacted to email before, though, so I'm hopeful. And thanks for writing an email! |

Cool!
Did you write an email? Everybody's got to contribute from sitcomsonline and amazon.com to make this work! |

Update:
So I recently got an email from a guy at 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment asking me to take down the email address list, which tells me the head honcho has gotten some emails and is none too happy about it. Yet I'm getting the sense that the emails are mostly coming from people who preordered on Amazon.com whom I was able to contact personally. How are we doing on Sitcoms Online...are you kids sending emails? I opted NOT to take down the list of people to contact, since it's the only leverage I have right now. To be honest, I was always kind of bluffing with the bigwigs, not knowing how many people would write emails, yet while I don't think they've been deluged, maybe they are getting a good steady stream, which is not a bad thing either. So please send, and maybe re-send down the line. The studio, of course, now could easily just tell all of us to pound sand because of the emails. But after such a long delay, and then this latest "preorder" on Amazon that was anything but, I thought it was time for action. I mean, I personally ended up buying Seasons 5 and 6 bootleg, but at this point it's the principle of the thing. My thought is let's give the emailing our best shot and see where we stand. If there's no action and yet people are still into it, down the line I have phone numbers, and I haven't even tapped Twitter and Facebook yet. And anybody with any thoughts or ideas, let's hear it! |

Haha! I can't say I'm surprised that they've taken this kind of action. I would be sincerely interested to know why it is that they won't release 5 and 6, really truly. Is it money? Or is it a legal thing? Does it have something to do with Suzanne's death? (I've often noticed that many series stop being released on DVD after the death of a main star ex: Green Acres stopped being released after Eddie Albert's 2005 death)....now that the aspiring entertainment lawyer in me has had the floor, I'll move on to the less legal question...how and where did you get a bootleg copy? I'm actually taping 5 and 6 as they play on Hallmark. Not exactly the most convienent thing, ex: I can't take screen shots or watch them on the computer...but it is cheap and legal! Anybody else doing this?

I recorded Season 5 from Me-TV and Season six from Hallmark.
Yes Metv shows season 5 just not season 6. I had heard a a few months back that the reason Me-TV doesnt air Season 6 was because the only copies available were under 21 minutes and some of them didnt have credits. |
