Was "Sit on it!" an actual catch phrase of the 50's, as far as any of you know?

The phrase was obviously meant to be an insult. What was the "it" that someone was being told to sit on?

I remember that phrase being kind of an "in" thing to say to insult people while Happy Days aired, in the mid to late 70's. At least at my high school, lol!
