![]() There's no such thing as "Losing" in Professional Sports. They are all Millionaires set for several lifetimes as are their children and grandchildren. While that's great for them, I am not about to spend my own money, or even grow hoarse rooting for millionaires to make more money. A sports fan's hype is all in his mind. It borders on foolishness because even though the season can be as much as 6 months long, only the last few championship games even really count. |

Don't forget, they are not " our " teams, They belong to the billionaire owners who at any given time can pack em up and ship them overnight to another city if they don't care much for the weather in " our " cities. I follow a winner, but not as loyal as I used to be.

You can still be a fan without spending any money. Just watch it on tv. I know what youre saying though and I feel the same as you.

Well...the regular season games determine who is even IN the championship games so that argument doesn't really make much sense.
I agree on the millionaire thing, but I guess you could say the same thing about TV, movies, plays and music. Our pop culture heroes are rich; we either have to get over it, or leave the field. Obviously you've chosen the latter. |

Thanks for not being rude and personally insulting like the poster who quoted me and my photo/illustration then personally insulted me. I would never consider insulting him back or even acknowledging him directly because that sort of thing fans the flames of madness and overall anarchy. |

Though there is plenty of truth in the ridiculousness of getting crazy about a sports team, there is also plenty of great fun and pleasure.
It's a game. Players get paid ridiculously. it's entertainment. Just like movie stars. For movies. Which you pay for. Like music, entertainment. The stars get paid BIG. For whatever you call entertainment, you pay, don't delude yourself. And if you find means to circumvent paying, whatever. People find fanaticism in all sorts of entertainment, so you might as well criticize anyone who go overboard in their love of any particular phase of it that spends money. And those who get emotionally invested in it? I ask who are these people each week who get riled up about reality tv shows? I don't see anyone in that crapfest area putting their body and life on the line. I have learned not to go nuts about my teams for apparent reasons, as you pointed out, and as which is obvious. I have a life and a family and they don't give a f about me and they are getting paid. But there can be a rooting interest, which is fun itself. The Giants are a rival of my team, but still I rooted for them in the Super Bowl and their winning was fun. It wouldn't have mattered much if they lost, but as they won I had fun. Entertainment. You don't like pro sports. But you do spend money on entertainment and some millionaires aren't giving a crap about you. Whether you can identify them or not. |

About the poster you feel insulted you, don't worry about it. He does that all the time with things he doesn't agree with. That is the one problem that I have with these boards is that he is never called on it by the mods, because he is a "mods" favourite. Personal attacks & name calling should never be allowed. The "mods" here are in name only. |
