For years two segments from Unsolved Mysteries have been stuck in my head from when I watched the show as a child. Does anybody know what I'm thinking of?
The first involved a man who was running from someone or something, which was never understood to be what or whom, and ran onto a airport runway and jumped onto a plane's wing as it was taking off. Of course, he fell and was killed once the plane was in the air. At the time of the broadcast, the police could not figure out who this person was, and what he was running from, and why he did what was clearly going to be suicide. The second involved a woman who moved in a with a family and started a relationship with the man of the house. She did something, robbed him perhaps or cleared his bank account, I can't remember. But as I recall she assumed the identity of her "sister" and would write letters to this guy. Eventually she returned to the very same man and started sleeping with again only this time with dyed hair and pretending to be the "sister" when in fact both ladies were one in the same person. I believe she robbed him again and then never returned. That is the jist of both mysteries, but I saw these when I was a child and it was a long time ago. Does anybody know what I'm talking about? |

The second woman was actually Marie Hilley, who killed her husband from arsenic poisioning. She was later convicted of his murder and died on the run from exposure after escaping from prison.

The first one is Brian Duecker, who was believed to have jumped on the plane because of his schizophrenia. The second one is Marie Hilley, a mother and wife who poisoned and killed her husband with arsenic. She almost succeeded in killing her daughter but she was arrested for bad checks before her daughter could get more ill. Her son was also poisoned but lived and was interviewed in the actual segment.

Yeah for a while the plane episode was unsolved i think. strange to say the least, one of the most unreal ways to die.
marie hilley or whatever...was featured on the diabolical minds(socio-path) segment. almost unreal to think that a person could be that crazy. |
