In other words, comedy series whose plots left viewers guessing as to what was happening until near or at the very end.Examples:The 2 -part very good "Hazel"NBC color episode "Scherezade and Her Frying Pan",and the not too bad first season 1966 episode "Little Auction Annie"of "That Girl".Know of any other shows that have comedy-mystery episodes? And it can be from any decade-the 1950's,1960's,1970's-today.

I'm thinking of that episode of the Brady Bunch where Carol is missing one of her earrings. Peter plays detective and interviews everybody and they retrace their steps through flashback.
Don't read any further if you haven't seen the episode because it contains spoilers: Marcia borrowed it, Cindy took it,Cindy hid it in a towel, Alice grabbed the towels, did the laundry, found earring inside washing machine but it was ruined. |

Another couple of comedy-mysteries ,were--first:the "The Doris Day Show" episode from season 3 when she was a widow, called "Dinner for One", a good episode that kept audiences guessing,as did -second,the third season "Get Smart" episode called "The Mysterious Dr.T."Both were good episodes that kept viewers guessing.

Two episodes of Reba are like this. (SPOILER ALERT)
A Moment in Time: When the family, except Kyra, each makes a private tape to show Elizabeth when she's older. Reba notices the tape has been moved and suspects someone watched the tape. Everybody starts arguing and pointing the blame at someone. Since nobody confesses they watch the tape. They all find something someone said offensive and get into a big argument, only to find that Kyra took it to tape a message that makes everyone realize they shouldn't be fighting. Who Killed Brock?: Reba was taking care of Barbra Jean's dog and when it goes missing Barbra Jean panics and goes to see a psychic who tells her someone in the family killed her dog. She then accuses people of killing the dog, so they each tell a story through flashbacks about where they last saw the dog. Reba set her outside because the dog kept going on the kitchen counter while she was cooking. Brock brought a pillowcase with his cologne over for the dog to sniff so she gets used to his scent, only to get bitten in the ear. The dog scares Van into climbing up a tree house. Cheyenne finds her in the garage eating her cookies. In the end Jake finds her still alive. |

How about The Peanuts special "It's a Mystery, Charlie Brown" 1974. Woodstock's nest is missing and Snoopy becomes a detective, and enterigates the entire Peanuts gang! Watch Snoopy blowing soap bubbles out of his pipe!

Jeff schedules a fake class taught by Professor Professorson to get more credits, and when the dean finds out, someone named Professor Professorson comes to his defense...but the class *was* fake, so the episode sees Annie and Jeff trying to figure out who Professor Professorson is. |

Mr. Belvedere had an episode where Belvedere and George dress up in drag to find out who is mugging women. George's son Kevin also dressed up in drag but George didn't like it because he thought Kevin looked good as a woman and might get picked up. One of my favorite episodes.
