Default Who's in for a 9th Season of "The Office" (Cast-wise)

It's not official that there's going to be a 9th season but it seems very, very likely. So for this thread, let's assume the 9th season IS happening. What do we know about it so far...

James Spader will not be back as the CEO, Robert California.
http://www.gossipcop.com/james-spade...quitting-quit/

Rainn Wilson will be leaving midseason for a Dwight spin-off The Farm.
http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/news/a3...xt-season.html

Mindy Kaling won't return if her FOX pilot gets picked up.
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/liv...x-pilot-285906

Ed Helms, John Krazinski and Jenna Fischer are all in talks to return, though no contracts have been signd yet.

What else?

I think that's pretty much it thus far, although you could expect BJ Novak (actor/writer) to return as Ryan.

Default Lindsey Broad (Cathy) Is Leaving 'The Office'

The temp's play for Jim is over.
Pam's maternity leave replacement, Cathy (Lindsey Broad), didn't have much to do during her stay at the office, but Lieberstein says her attempt to hook up with Jim was not a left-field plot twist. "We played it slow; that was our intent," he says. "If you were bored and really watching, you'd see clues to it [throughout her arc]. She always had eyes for Jim." But now that Jim rejected her advances? "That's it," Lieberstein says."I think he put it to rest."

That link provides an interesting read about the future of the show. Thanks for posting.

As for Cathy, oh well.

Maybe Toby Flenderson will become the star of the show

I'm halfway through Season 6 on my Office marathon. I've seen a few episodes without Michael, and while I think the entire cast is funny in their own right, I can't imagine the show without Michael on a permanent basis. It would be like Cheers without Sam, Three's Company without Jack Tripper or Family Ties without Alex Keaton.

I do like Andy a lot. I think he's hilarious. Still, I can't see him filling the void that Michael had to leave. Michael Scott was the star of the show, in my opinion anyway. I'll have to catch up watching before I'll have a solid opinion on whether they should have a 9th season. I don't know where I'm going to get season 8 when I'm done with season 7. Does anyone know when it will be available?

I have seen every episode, and in my opinion, it is definitely NOT the same without Michael Scott. I miss him terribly. Andy really was funny, but I am not feeling him so much since he has become regional manager.

Janice, season 8 is still currently airing on television. Just seasons 1-7 are available on DVD. Michael leaves in mid season 7

I know that season 8 is airing now. I don't want to watch it because it's winding down, and it would be way out of sequence. Also, weird watching two seasons at the same time.

I'm just wondering how long they take to go to dvd. Is there any way I can get that, watch it fast in time for the start of season 9? I doubt it. I didn't know that Michael left in mid season. I thought he finished it out. Oh well.

I'd say "mid-season" is a stretch. There's Michael's last episode and then three episodes without him. Then the season is over. So on DVD, just the last disc (of 3 episodes) is Michael-less.

These seasons seem to get released sometime in September before the season premiere of the next season. So I guess it depends how fast you can watch a season.

I'm a power power watcher, lol. We're on episode #114, and that's in about two weeks. Last week, we started about 10pm and watched until 6am. We've done this with several episodes in the past. Lost, Dexter, Coach, Steve Harvey, Wings, etc, etc.

I got into "The Office" just before the 7th season premiered. I blind bought season one and watched it in one night. I loved it, but was broke. So I had to wait a week for my next paycheck and that's how I did it for all six seasons. A season a week. It was killing me, too. I wanted to watch them sooner but didn't have the funds.

Since you're on season six, that means you've made it through the Michael Scott Paper Company episodes. I love that storyarch. Michael came out looking sharp, too.

I loved that storyline too. He really stuck it to Charles, who I cannot stand. Odd how Charles hates Jim, really for no good reason. I loved the Cafe/Disco episode that followed Michael and Pam's return. I love watching Michael dance. All of them really. That wedding dance was great.

We've been watching it via streaming from Netflix. We bought a ROKU. We're returning it, but not until we finish up The Office, lol. We just click on the Next button. I love it. It's on our bedroom tv, so it's comfy. We take breaks. I make snacks. Our two kitties are there. It's fun. I LOL so hard that I almost lose my breath.

I have Comcast with On Demand. I saw today that they have this season. I watched the last four episodes. I've got The Office coming out of my ears, lol. I was surprised to see Pam's weight gain. I know she recently had a baby, but she still looks pregnant. Did Kelly have also have a baby? Her face looked puffy. They still look pretty, just heavier.

I'm confused about those whole Tallahassee thing. What are they selling, a pyramid thing? Why isn't Jim a boss anymore? All that back and forth to Scranton and Florida drove me nuts. I miss Michael fierce. I'm not so sure I could stick with the show on a regular on a regular basis. To me, Michael is The Office.

Imagine how it would be if Dwight was spinned off and left for his own show lol
