The main focus of my second to last post was the fact that my favorite and second-favorite episode of "Gimme a Break!" both came out in 1982 (thirty years ago). This was in commemoration of the fact that one of my previous threads had thirty views and zero replies. Well, in between then and now, I posted a thread about the fact that my third favorite episode came out in 1984. Just in case anyone is wondering, the episode that I am referring to is "Samantha's Protest". Well, now I see that that thread has generated thirty views and zero replies. Because I am still not having any success in stimulating any new conversation, I have decided to do yet another commemorative thread! Please bare with me folks! Thirty years ago, the "Barbara Mandrell" show went off of the air! Just in came some of you do not know, this was a variaty show that she did with her two adorable sisters. I thought it was great! It was sandwiched in between the "Harper Valley P.T.A." and "NBC Magazine". At that stage in the game, Saturday was my true night to be a couch potato! In any event, I believe that it was her near fatal car accident that was the main thing that brought this show to an end. Another important factor was competition from the "Love Boat". Throughout the eighties, a lot of shows went up against that one, most of which ended in defeat! Incidentily, shortly after old Barb's show was canciled, "Gimme a Break!" was one of the shows that was on opposite half of the "Love Boat"! If I had to choose between those two shows, I would definatley choose "Gimme a Break!"! How do you guys feel about the subject?
