Default Spinoffs you enjoyed more than the predecessor show?

Are there certain shows that were spun off from its parent show that you like better than the parent show?

Mine are:

Family Matters from Perfect Strangers
Good Times from Maude (Although I am enjoying Maude)
The Golden Palace from the Golden Girls (I still like Godlen Girls)
In the past, I liked a A Different world over The Cosby Show (Even though I loved the Cosby Show)
Knots Landing from Dallas.

I still like the parent shows. I have nothing against them at all. They were great.

Melrose Place over 90210.

I loved KL and think overall it was a better show than Dallas but Dallas is still my favorite show. The first 8 seasons was as good as tv gets. I agree that ADW was a better show than TCS. And that says a lot since I hated the first season and boycotted it after if forced Family Ties to move to Sundays. lol

As much tv as you watch each year, I'm surprised you haven't seen it.

Same here. Its one of the few shows that I actually like over the original show it spun off from. I like Cheers but I love Frasier.

Although I liked Beverly Hills 90210, I love Melrose Place more.
There are times I like the continuation of Archie Bunker's Place than the original All in the family.

I don't think Emergency has aired on any of my stations since I got cable.

Four out of six seasons of Emergency! are on hulu. Have been for quite a while as I eventually watched them all and completed doing so at least a year ago.

Not intending to start one of *those* spinoff debates...as I know this to be empirical fact: Hello Larry did not originate with Diff'rent Strokes. The first crossover between the two shows did not air until after the network decided to move Hello Larry up from its original 9:30PM Friday timeslot to 8:30. That was barely a month after it began, but after is not before.

Now, Facts Of Life--there's a spinoff. And I definitely preferred it.

Green Acres is also not a spinoff by the conventional definition, but in a time of much looser definition of the term, both it and Petticoat Junction were cited in print as 'Beverly Hillbillies spinoffs' as opposed to GA being a spinoff of PJ. However you choose to work that one out, I prefer the spinoff.

I may be the only fan of The Tortellis who didn't watch Cheers...or just the only one not afraid to admit it.

Ok, I have deleted that from my list, do you want to look over it again and correct any others? You also need to go here and do some editing

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...sion_spin-offs

For the record though, you are right and I had forgotten that it wasn't an actual spinoff.

Isn't Trapper John, MD a MASH spinoff? I know I enjoyed that show when it aired.

I also preferred Benson over Soap and Knots Landing over Dallas. And when I used to watch the CSI's, I did prefer Miami to Las Vegas.

I think I liked The Jeffersons a little more than All In The Family from which it was a spin-off.
