Default Any dvd's in the works?

I have asked this question elsewhere on this site and received no response, so I thought I'd ask here in the Beverly Hillbillies forum. Does anybody have any idea if there is anything in the works to continue releasing seasons of BH? Or Petticoat Junction and Green Acres for that matter? The Beverly Hillbillies is one of my all-time favorites, and it seems to have remained popular in syndication...I can't believe that the previously issued seasons weren't at least somewhat successful. Any info or even rumors would be appreciated. Otherwise, I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed. Thanks.

I hope they do soon. It's a shame that only three seasons are released. My daughter loves the show. She likes the Kellogg's commercials too.

If Paramount gives up on releasing this series, perhaps Shout! Factory will come to the rescue as they have with Hazel. Brian Ward, are you listening?

I think part of the problem with (and this is just MY opinion) "The Beverly Hillbillies" DVD releases is consumer confusion. Paramount sat on the property too long before releasing it.

The first season, released by MPI, wasn't as widely available in stores as most Paramount releases are, so if "Joe Average" consumer missed that release, and suddenly sees season TWO pop up in stores, he'd wonder what happened to season one, and not buy season two, thus low sales figures.

Also, it didn't help matters any with numerous, inferior, public domain releases being put out since the dawn of the DVD format. Folks might have bought those, noticed the theme song substitutions, and figured EVERY release would be like that.

Granted, I'm hoping the entire series eventually gets released, but it is looking like it won't happen. I have 30 Columbia House videotapes I ordered in the early 90's of the series, three episodes per tape, grouped by subject matter, from various years. I might need to transfer the episodes not on the current DVD sets to DVD, so I can preserve them better.

I think the answer is an aggressive letter-writing campaign to CBS/Paramount Video. This is why "The Lucy Show" was finally released because so many Lucy fans hounded CBS/Paramount for a few years...I being one of them. They will only release shows on DVD if they see enough evidence of audience demand, especially if there are legal issues surrounding the release of such shows. I have to assume they stop releasing after season 3 because people weren't buying them, but I would love all 9 seasons and 274 episodes of the TBH on DVD because like so many of these great shows, they are impossible to find on TV anymore.

I'm fortunate to have Me-TV and My Network TV in my area, both of which are airing TBH. It's great to be able to see the very late seasons again with Danielle Mardi (one of the Commerce Bank secretaries).

I've noticed in other threads that some fans like only the first few seasons, and another labeled the final one as practically "unwatchable." Of course they're entitled to their opinions, but if ardent fans are not interested in the entire run, selling to a wider audience of casual viewers is going to be tough. That last season did have its weak points, but I still find some compelling humor in it...

I agree that the final season of TBH was not the best but I still enjoy it. The final season of Bewitched was not the best one either but it was still released on DVD.

I think the best thing that could happen with The Beverly Hillbillies, is Shout! acquiring it and just going ahead and releasing the series as a complete box set, like they did with Leave It To Beaver and Barney Miller. That would be awesome. At any rate, I too, wish this show would get "un-stalled"!

Some of my favorite Hillbillies episodes are from the later seasons, I hope they come out on DVD eventually...
