Why did James and Florida allow 16 year old Thelma, to go out on a date with a grown man that is 21 years old just meeting him for the first time, after writing that article sexual behavior in the Ghetto; however when Thelma became a grown adult woman over 18 years old dating older men, it was a problem?

James wasn't around when Thelma became older to tell her anything.

It wasn't an article on sexual behavior, it was his college thesis. That is something he needed to turn into his professor for one of his classes.

What older guy did Thelma date later that caused a problem? I remember the Ibe episode but Ibe wasn't older.
