TV Matthew Perry Joins "The Good Wife"

Matthew Perry Joins "The Good Wife"
2/17/2012
by Philiana Ng

Matthew Perry is heading to "The Good Wife".

The "Friends" veteran has been tapped to play Mike, described as "an extremely charming Chicago attorney," for a multi-episode arc on the CBS drama.

When Perry comes into the fold, he is "tasked with heading up a blue-ribbon panel that's investigating a suspicious police shooting."

His appearance ruffles some feathers, especially for Alicia (Julianna Margulies), who is assigned to be on the panel and begins to question Mike's actions as chairman.

Perry most recently head-lined two short-lived series:

ABC's quirky comedy "Mr. Sunshine", which aired in 2011
NBC's "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" in 2006-07

"The Good Wife": Matthew Perry In 'Blue Ribbon Panel' First Look
3/6/12

Matthew Perry is coming to "The Good Wife" and Alicia Florrick is getting very suspicious.

In 'Blue Ribbon Panel', the Sun., March 25 episode of the hit CBS legal drama, Perry guest stars as Mike Kresteva, a lawyer in charge of a police shooting investigation.

Alicia (Julianna Margulies) is assigned to the panel and begins to question Mike's actions.

Perry could recur on "The Good Wife" next season if his NBC comedy pilot "Go On" doesn't make it to series. The pilot centers on a sportscaster (Perry) trying to move on from loss with the help of his support group.

Very good Sonny. There's an excellent episode with Will and Alicia testifying on the Grand Jury. Have you seen it?

NO SPOILERS PLEASE, ANYONE.

I think that's the next episode I'm on. The one I watched last night was the one where he was served and Diane was attracted to the guy who served him. lol

I sure hope the show gets renewed. It's very addicting.

No it hasn't. I wasn't really worried until the ratings for the last episode came out and they were awful. I think CBS wants to get it through a fourth season though so it can be syndicated. At least I hope they do. Maybe they'll move it to Friday and pair it with Blue Bloods which is another underrated show.

Whew, that was close. I would have hated it had it not been renewed. Thanks for the update, Sonny.

Julianna Margulies Talks about Matthew Perry Joining "The Good Wife" on "Anderson" (VIDEO)
3/15/12

On the same day that CBS announced they had renewed 18 of their shows, including the critical darling "The Good Wife," series star Julianna Margulies appeared on "Anderson".

She discussed how she helped orchestrate Matthew Perry jumping on board the legal drama for an eight episode run.

So a big star is coming to "The Good Wife".

Yes, Matthew Perry is coming on for eight episodes.

I bumped into him at a Halloween party. I was dressed up as 'Sally Bowles' from Cabaret so I didn't know if he'll recognize me. He told me 'Oh my god I love your show, I think it's the best show on television, I want to be on it.'

I told him 'If you say that I'll go on and do something about it, so are you sure?' He said 'Yes, I'm sure!' So I called up the producers the next day and told them 'I think Matt Perry will be brilliant on the show.'

After our first day of fourteen hours of filming we were doing this blue ribbon panel of just me and him, and some other actors in the room. He goes home and I go home, I learn all my lines for the next day, I wake up at 6 and then head to work, he looks at me and goes 'I just slept 11 hours and I don't understand how you are doing this. This is exhausting.'

I told him he'll get used to it and by the third day he's got it.
