"Wadada" is the guy who attacked and raped college student Sarah Beard in 1988. The guy who played him in the Unsolved Mysteries episode looks familiar. I think he played in a Steven Seagal movie or something.

That would be Jeffrey Anderson-Gunter, who played a henchman in the Steven Seagal movie "Marked for Death" and has a pretty extensive list of credits.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0027599/ I think I remember reading somewhere about someone sitting next to the actor on a plane not long after the episode aired and thinking it was the real Wadada! I wonder if the poor guy ever had people call the cops on him. |

I don't know if that happened to Jeffrey Anderson-Gunter, but that sort of thing did happen several times. I remember one specific case of an actor named Christopher Cotten who was arrested after playing a crook by the name of David Adams on AMW. I vividly remember his interview on the evening news (early '90s) after his release saying he'd never act in another AMW segment.
He was released fairly quickly, and its certainly an unfortunate incident. I'd say its tough to blame the tipsters or police though. My memories of many people on UM are definitely blurred, if not replaced by the actors. |
