Robert Rodriguez, Danny Trejo Return for Machete Kills!

With the Berlin Film Festival just kicking off, it was announced that Robert Rodriguez is teaming with producer Alexander Rodnyansky to hatch a sequel to the 2010 action film Machete, reports Deadline.

Titled Machete Kills (as teased in the closing credits of the first Machete), the film is the second in a planned trilogy.



Danny Trejo returns as the title character.

Ethan Maniquis co-directed the first film that starred Trejo as Machete is a Mexican, an ex-Federale with a gift for wielding a blade, who hides out as a day laborer, and is double-crossed by a corrupt state senator.





The film will be the first U.S. picture to be produced and financed by Alexander Rodnyansky, whose Hollywood expansion plans include a $120 million film fund with Media Talent Group’s Geyer Kosinski.

AR Films U.S. is a new partnership between AR Films and Aldamisa Entertainment, whose Sergei Bespalov will manage worldwide sales of Machete Kills in Berlin.

Just in time for EFM it was announced that Robert Rodriguez is teaming with producer Alexander Rodnyansky for the promised sequel to the 2010 action film Machete.

Now that the Berlin market is in full gear, some early sales art has leaked online.

Rodriguez also teased that the third entry will be titled Machete Kills Again... In Space!.

Michelle Rodriguez Returns As Luz in Machete Kills

It’s official: Michelle Rodriguez is officially set to reprise her role in Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills, says Variety.

Machete Kills, which starts production this month in Texas, “Finds the titular ex-federale (Danny Trejo) recruited by the U.S. government to stop a terrorist named Mendez the Madman, who happens to be Mexico’s leading cartel dealer.

Mel Gibson is set to co-star as Luther Voz, a cunning arms dealer and death merchant who aims to spread war across the planet by launching a missile.”



Jessica Alba is also expected to return for the sequel, which will be distributed by 20th Century Fox.

Robert Rodriguez hopes to fully direct Machete Kills, based on his faux trailer included in Dimension’s 2007 Grindhouse.

New Cast Members Include:

- Amber Heard as Miss San Antonio, a manipulative and deadly assassin

- Sofia Vergara as Madame Desdemona, a leather-clad madame that has information Machete needs

Zoe Saldana in Machete Kills

In a brief interview with Moviehole, Danny Trejo reveals that he’ll also be starring alongside Zoe Saldana in Machete Kills.

“The sequel…is going to be a lot more over-the-top than ‘Machete,’” says Trejo adding a bit about the character’s infinite mojo. “We’ve got Sofia Vergara, who is a star in her own right, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, and Zoe Saldana – and guess what? I get to kiss all of ‘em.”

He also jokes that if Rodriguez wants Trejo to return for a third Machete he expect to land a role in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

The Sexy Babysitter Twins Return in Machete Kills!!

Robert Rodriguez’s sequel Machete Kills is enlisting more girl power for its star-studded ensemble, as the helmer’s twin nieces, Electra and Elise Avellan, are set to reprise their roles from the original Mexploitation movie, says Variety.

The Avellans previously played the Crazy Babysitter Twins in Rodriguez’s Grindhouse entry Planet Terror as well as Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof.

The Avellan sisters will once again be playing bad-ass nurses Mona and Lisa.
