Super Bowl XLVI Becomes Most-Watched Program in TV History
2/6/2012 by Marisa Guthrie Super Bowl XLVI snuck past last year’s big game to become the most-watched telecast in TV history. The game – which saw the New York Giants narrowly defeat the New England Patriots – was watched by 111.3 million viewers (6:31-9:58 p.m. ET). Last year’s Green Bay Packers-Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl registered 111.0 million viewers. The game, which was broadcast by NBC, pulled in a whopping 40.5 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, for a 15-year high in the demo (since Super Bowl XXX on Jan. 28, 1996). In fact, the last three Super Bowls have set ratings records, with the 2010 win by the New Orleans Saint toppling a decades-old record set by the finale of "M*A*S*H". http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/liv...atriots-287279 |
