Default RIP Robert Heyges

Robert Heyges who played Epstein in Welcome Back Kotter has passed from a heart attack. You may remember he played Raul's uncle in a CATM ep. It may have been the one where they flashed back to Chico. And Freddie was friends with the Kotter cast. So he is with Freddie now, I guess.

So sad. He was the same age my late hubby would've been in a heart attack hadn't taken him in 2009. Such a shock. I had no idea he was in bad health either. He will be missed and will always be our Epstein. He and Kotter were a part of my teenage yrs so many yrs ago. RIP...

I was so lucky that this happened on a day that I didn't have an improv show. I almost ruined my show the day that Ron Pallilo died. Stating "Life is uselsss! ARNOLD DINGFELDER HORSHACK IS DEAD!". I'm surprised that they even let me back on stage.

But back to the point. Robert was always the main reason for me to watch Kotter. And I'm still in shock! Much love to Juan Luis Pedro Felipo de Huevos Epstein!<3

Yes, Robert is with Freddie now! I didn't know Robert and Freddie were friends, but it makes sense that they would be! Wow, two hot, Latino crushes of mine from back in the day.

Both left us way too early, but are in heaven now , old friends reunited!

Wow, never knew he made a guest appearance on CATM during the WBK era.

Yeah, I didn't know either! Watching Welcome back Kotter reruns lately I have been noticing what a good actor Robert was. Did he do anymore TV or acting roles after Kotter I wonder? I do remember him in an episode of The streets of San Francisco. He played a high school student in that too. A crazy man took school kids hostage , or something like that. I saw that when it was first run in the 70's. I think it was before Kotter, so I vaguely remember it. Other than that I don't recall seeing Robert in anything else besides Kotter, and he should have been, he really was a good actor and a good comedic talent too.

he made a guest appearance on the sitcom that Gabe Kaplan, starred in during the 1981-82 season called Lewis and Clark

he also made an appearance on Chips and played a major role on Cagney and Lacey for 2 years in the mid 80's

I remember him making a quick cameo in an episode of The Drew Carey Show. That doesn't seem to be listed for some reason.

Cagney & Lacy was one of my Mom's favorite shows. I couldn't stand it. I do remember him on there though.

My mom loved that show too. She always watched it. I liked it too, but not as much as my Mom did. That was her favorite show at the time, like she couldn't miss one episode!!

That's pretty much the way it was with my Mom. She loved The Waltons and Little House on the Praire and even Lou Grant. By 1982 those shows were off though and so Cagney and Lacy replaced them. I will say that I did love the theme song though. That was one of the best theme songs of all time.

My Mom and I both loved the Waltons. I started watching it not to long ago on Hallmark. But it is so overplayed, like the Golden girls on Hallmark. (they play so many episodes a day) I am burned out of it already!
