Default UM family members who passed away before getting closure

I started my "Kenneth Nygaard" thread hoping to contribute something of uniqueness to the board and I called that one wrong as his last name was actually Engie. I believe that is the correct spelling at least. I am unsure if this thread topic has been started before although I did not find a thread to this effect in searches that I did. But who knows - many UM searches proved to miss the mark. For example, Mike Riemer - His father Lloyd passed away in 1993, almost 20 years ago and Mike's skull was only found in March of 2011.

Another example would be Patty Doel, the mother of Tara Calico who died in 2006. Tara's biological father died in 2002 although he was not featured on UM. Dale Kerstetter's mother Evelyn Hanson passed away, from what I recall, shortly after the 1989 broadcast.

The above examples are cases not yet "closed" but I meant closure from the point of view of closure transpiring in the life of the UM family member, whether or not it has been closed since.

I remember reading a thread that had people that had been on UM that have since died...you might want to do a search for that because it had a lot of interesting information.
It took some looking but I've found it:

That's a very similar thread and possibly my subconscious motivation for this one. I suppose to my credit, the theme of both threads are slightly different but along the same lines. It must have been very sad for Tara Calico's mother to never know what happened to her little girl.

Unfortunately, it's fairly common for the family of a victim of an unsolved murder or disappearance to die at a young age, as the stress of the situation takes such an emotional toll on them that it winds up shortening their lifespan. Just go to the Charley Project and you'll see a ton of profiles that mention the missing person's parent passing away in their fourties or fifties.

Off the top of my head, UM family members who have passed away without getting closure include:
-Gord McAllister
-Keith Warren's mother
-Norman Ladner's father
-Michael Rosenblum's father
-Amy Billig's mother
-Cynthia Anderson's father
-Anthonette Cayedito's mother
-Nyleen Kay Marshall's mother (who was murdered!)

You'll find many more listed in that other thread and sadly, quite a few of them died way too young.

Tammy Leppert's mother died in 1995, just 3 years after Tammy's case was featured on Unsolved Mysteries. Sadly, she never had any closure.

Didi Sohus died before she knew whether or not the bones found in her backyard was her son John's or not. She also never learned the fate of her daughter-in-law Linda either.

Didn't know it myself until someone posted her Find-a-Grave in the Anthonette Cayedito thread.

Apparently, she died in 1999 at the age of 46, but I've never found out any details about cause of death.

Both of Tommy Burkett's parents are deceased I believe. Stephanie Senac, who was shot in the Las Cruces bowling alley massacre along with her daughter Melissa and 5 other people, died in 1999 without knowing who shot her. "Shirley", the black woman who saw Dana Satterfield's killer, died a year before they identified and arrested Dana's killer. All very sad indeed.

Don't forget actor Dennis Cole, whose son Joe was murdered in 1991. Dennis died in November 2009.

I think so. Someone on here found out about a year or two ago that the Cleveland or Newburgh Heights church that she used to attend had a prayer request for her or in her name.

Wow, I did not know that Penny Cayedito passed away. I too would be curious to know if there are any details about her passing? I'm also sorry to hear that Shirley passed away, as well.

Also, this is somewhat off topic, but I believe I came across a Social Security Death INdex listing for John Branion's widow Shirley. the date of death is listed as 2001. Does anyone know any more information about Shirley Branion's passing?
