Can you name TV shows that wound up getting a second chance under the original name title or with a spinoff title? What shows came back to TV with all new episodes? I will hold off naming some until I hear from you guys. i'll do on, though.
Melrose Place, it came back in 2009 but was canceled after 18 eps for the season. |

Dark Shadows, a soap from the 60's came back in the early 90's on NBC as a prime time show. There has been a lot of that with tv shows. There are so many.

Hawaii-Five-O has most recently.
Hunter came back as a new series in 2003 but did not last long. |

"Land of the Lost" (1974-1976) was revived in 1991-1992.

Star Trek came back with a bunch of spinoffs - The Animated Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise.
Also, the movie series if that counts. |

Something like the original "Dallas" and the upcoming TNT series "Dallas" fits better. |

The Outer Limits
original (1963-early 1965) remake (1995-2002) This is probably one of the few examples of a revival lasting longer than the original series. |

Dragnet definitely fits this bill.
Started in 1951-59. Was successfully revived from early 1967 until 1970. Came back twice more but fared unsuccessfully in 1989 and in early 2003. Kojak came back in 1989 and in 2005 unsuccessfully. Mission: Impossible returned in 1988 and stayed til 1990. Knight Rider returned in 2008 and fared no where as successful as the 1980s version. Charlie's Angels returned this fall and bombed really badly. Bionic Woman returned in 2007 and bombed horribly. |

Well, "Family Affair" came back with Gary Cole as the lead in 2003 (I think) and there was the original from 1966-1971.
I count All in the family also. It was a show that ran for 13 years but was packaged as two separate shows with the other title "Archie Bunker's Place. "Laugh-In" is another (1967-1973) then (1978). "V" (1985) then again (2010) |
