Back in the 1970s (and earlier) LaCrosse Wisconsin had 2 great movie theaters the Hollywood and the Rivoli. Both were majestic with one big screen, ample seating and a balcony. The restrooms were downstairs.
Tells us about your movie theatre. |

We had a lot of movie theatres around here,I was an usher at one of them but quit after the first day because I hated to wear a suit and tie. We preferred going to the drive-in theatres because they were cheaper. 1.50 for the driver and nothing for the 5 guys in the trunk.

Most of the "great movie theaters" in my area closed before I was born.

Kiggens in Vancouver, WA- When I used to frequent it, it was double-feature for 99 cents....haven't been in ages, but they still do double-feature, now $4(Still cheap)
Cinema 21 in Portland, OR- During the week they mostly played art films, then on weekends they played cult flicks, horror films...got to see Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, Chopper Chicks In Zombie Town, Dr Strangelove, Allegro non troppo, Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!....they also ran the Sick & Twisted Animation Film Festival. Now they mainly just play art/indie films. There's a few Pub Theaters in Portland. There's McMenamins which is located at Kennedy Elementary School which has been turned into a hotel, restaurant, pub, movie theater, and brewery. Sadly all the drive-ins around here are gone, they were disappearing when I became old enough to drive in the 80's. |
