Original Narrator? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Does anyone know who the male narrator was for the disclaimer during the original run of shows on NBC? I don't mean RS, I'm talking about the guy that did the "This program is about Unsolved Mysteries..." disclaimer.

I thought it was mildly amusing (yet understandable) that the intro was redubbed with a woman's voice when the show moved to Lifetime.

Also, did they have the same disclaimer when the show moved to CBS? I know they re-did the intro again at that time and remixed the music to the version that is on the DVD box sets. This is also the version that the official website calls "the show's original theme music" (scoff)

His name was Danny Dark. He passed away in 2004. Here's a picture:

Its been a long time since I watched the CBS version but I don't think the disclaimer with his voice was on there. It seemed like they started with some weird whirring sound and then went right to clips of upcoming segments.

I believe the woman who used to do the voiceovers for "Lifetime" was their standard voice over actor who did the voice overs for all their programming and commercials (not sure if she still does). It was speculated that "Lifetime" replaced Dark's voice with that of their own actor because they wanted to gear the show more towards a female audience.

I think it's far more likely that they just didn't want to pay Danny Dark royalties. Same deal with why they never bothered to buy out the Burr/Malden episodes.
