TV What do you think of NBC's "Who's Still Standing"?

The question-answer format and the questions are interesting,but that's aboiut all I can recommend about this somewhat mean-spirited game show,where the host(who is he,by the way?)gets his jollies (enjoys)seeing losing contestants fall through the floor.Like the 1966 NBC flop "Showdown",with nasty host the late Joe Pyne,which used the same format.it won't last.Any comments about "Who's Still Standing?"

Ellen did something like this a few times on her show and it was hilarious but to do a whole game show is dumb, IMO. I'm sure that when she did it, she had it set up where the contestants weren't harmed.

First off, the host's name is Ben Bailey, who was known for hosting "Cash Cab" a few years back. Also, one of the gripes I have with this show is that the contestants are never told when they're going to a commercial (NBC just puts them in whenever they feel like it). After this week (which is a slow TV week, BTW), I'm not sure if I'll watch again.

The bit about having the contestants drop through the floor when eliminated was used several years back on the GSN original game show Russian Roulette also. The circular holes look the same on this new show as they did on GSN.

It's not bad. At least this show seems to have real competition vs. a lot of the other quiz shows over this past decade.

The only thing I would do w/ this show is use the clock system from GSN's Grand Slam. I guarantee you that there'll definitely be someone dropping through the floor.

As I do agree that the Drop Zones on this look EXACTLY like the drop zones from GSN's Russian Roulette 9 years back.

Default WHY....

...did they have to include a special "holiday edition" title, with "Santa" butting in instead of the "regular" announcer? IRRITATING!!!!
{"Well, you see, the network promised I'd have my own special next year, like Michael Buble, right from the North Pole with my own guests and performers, so I said I'd do some voice tracks for this show...."}

Incidentally, the show is taped all the way through (except when Ben announces variations of "we'll return after this...", and several production breaks or mishaps, when they occur). NBC is the one that keeps cutting away from the contestants, in the middle of a question or whatever, for commercials "whenever they feel like it" [which is often!!]. They usually "pick up the action" to just before the "interruption" took place...the idea, of course, is to keep the viewer in "suspense" just long enough to lead into- and out of- the commercial breaks.

It is dumb. The only game show in the last couple years that was any good was Million Dollar Mind Game. And that didn't even get to air in primetime (aired Sundays at 4PM on ABC in October and November). It was exciting and fresh. Must see TV: www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWQ5AROEQ7I

All of these other stupid ones resemble Deal or No Deal, like Who's Still Standing and You Deserve It.

Who's Still Standing was another game show that became my favorite game show and I think that when it first came out NBC did indeed get inspiration from GSN's Russian Roulette but I found Who's Still Standing to be fun and exciting to see. I watched almost every episode and I thought the questions were easy to answer. It's a shame Who's Still Standing got cancelled because NBC had a fun hit on their hands and Ben Bailey was so nice as the host and not to mention cute as well.
