Exclamation "SNL" Controversy over Tim Tebow-Jesus Christ Skit

Pat Robertson to "SNL": Leave Tim Tebow Alone!
Dec 20, 2011
by Denise Martin

Pat Robertson's latest target? "Saturday Night Live".

The televangelist railed against a skit mocking Denver Broncos' quarterback Tim Tebow, an open and devout Christian, calling it "anti-Christian bigotry." In the sketch, Jason Sudeikis appeared as Jesus and told Tebow to concentrate on his game and ease up on the praise.

"If this had been a Muslim country and they had done that, and had Muhammad doing that stuff, you would have found bombs being thrown off!" Robertson said on the Christian Broadcasting Network.

"Tebow is an example, and I think he is a wonderful human being," Robertson said. "We need more religious faith in our society. We're losing our moral compass in our nation and this man has been placed in a unique position and I applaud him. God bless him."

From his quote, it sounds like ol' Pat is jealous of Muslims, because he can't place a fatwā on Jason Sudeikis and Taran Killam.

Default I though the sketch was funny...

....it actually took aim at "organized religion" in general, and people's dependence on "Jesus" for everything in their lives.....just remember, Pat Robertson is only ONE "preacher" in a million- and his opinion isn't necessarily reflective of all Christians {although he seems to think he is}.

The fact that there AREN'T bombs being "thrown off" is an indication of the tolerance (and frankly, sanity...) of the Christian community. Robertson is, as AKA said, hardly representative of Christians, and his opinions are really of little or no value, given his past howlers.

The skit was funny, did NOT make light of Jesus (only the reliance on him to explain every good and bad thing that happens) and was far from 'controversial'.

IDK. I'm divided. As a strong Christian, one part of me thought that the skit was amusing but there's another part of me that doesn't have peace about it and thinks that some stuff should not be messed with. LOL.

Agreed. I think SNL just should've left it alone.

"If this had been a Muslim country..." Why doesn't he just get this printed on a t-shirt? What a moonbat.
