Norman was also, of course, in THE ROPERS, but early in his career his did a sitcom with Larry Blyden and Nita Talbot called JOE AND MABEL (CBS 1956), he also had a recurring role on THE TOM EWELL SHOW (CBS 1960), and he starred in two DRAMA series as well - 87TH PRECINCT and DAN AUGUST.

This was not a series but I think I remember him best for his landlord portrayal in "The Graduate" with Dustin Hoffman. He was also in "Bulitt" with Steve McQueen. As far as TV goes he is probably best remembered for "Three's Company."

What was "Teachers Only" about and what happened to it? Too bad the Ropers never got another show after losing TC and The Ropers.

Youtube had a clip from Joe and Mable a couple of years ago and I watched it. Unfortunately it's no longer over there.

Yea, Kit McDonough was a regular on the show during the first season. She guest starred on the first episode of TC as a prospective roommate whom Stanley thought was a man. lol

No I think it was the character BOBBI who Jack met in the flowershop when she was Janet's Boss in the 6th season. On Teachers only she was one of the teachers.

Teachers Only was a pretty good show that i think NBC expected too much too soon--it had Lynn Redgrave (fresh from the House Calls controversy), Norman (fresh from the Ropers) and Tim Reid (fresh from WKRP). NBC was looking for more instant hits--had it been a little more patient with Teachers, it may have caught on. Would be nice if reruns surfaced somewhere in some series showcase.

I don't think NBC could afford to be patient with any show at that time since the network was doing so bad-lol
