What do you feel are the most scary/creepy/eerie cases involving an unsolved abduction, disappearance or murder? Which stories most disturb you?

well, the one where they found the old man stuffed in a steamer trunk scared the hell out of me and still does. Angela Hammond's disappearance, Blind River rest stop murders and any of the cases involving murdered prostitutes give me the chills.

All of the random killings have always freaked me out. Anytime someone was at the wrong place, at the wrong time always makes you think, "That could have been me."

As an adult, I'd say Monika Rizzo's murder was the creepiest. If you haven't seen it yet @1990 UM Fan, its on the Bizarre Murders set you're about to get!
Definitely listen to the director/producer commentary track on that case!As a kid, one of the scariest ones for me was Police Chief Webb's murder of Anna Anton. (This one is on the set too) I will never forget the re-enactment scene where the the camera is in a hallway shooting into a room where the two of them are arguing, and the door slowly closes. I remember thinking, "if only the door wouldn't have closed we could have known what happened to her!"

I would have to say Tommy Burkett. That case always interested me and frightened me at the same time!

I find so many of them creepy, but offhand, the 49HUGGER case, because it was so random.
Also, the Charles Morgan case and the Cindy James case. Oh....and seriously weird: The Sodder children. |

Jay Cook & Tanya VonC. - that whole segment creeps me out. That young couple were innocently having a weekend getaway and some lunatic murders them both. So tragic.
Ethel Kidd - the scene of when the police found her tied to a tree is horrifying. Philip Frazier - goes to show how it's not wise pick up hitchhikers. Philip should not have had "second thoughts" about picking up the hitchhiker. I still can't believe that the Oleson couple weren't also murdered. They were lucky. Rachel Timmerman - so horrifying how her body was weighed down with cinder blocks in the water. I wonder what happened to baby Shannon? |

The David Hurley murder was another one that always freaked me out. Especially since he was shot repeatedly and lived long enough to give a detailed description of his killer and his car. Tack on the fact that his killer was never found and you've got the recipe for one terrified UM viewer.

In my opinion, the scariest UM segments are the unsolved ones, and the ones with the fewest leads. So unsolved missing persons cases really freak me out, like A.J. Breaux, Anthonette Cayedito, Jeremy Bright, Bryan Nisenfeld, etc.
Probably the two most disturbing cases I've ever seen are the L'Enfant case and the Wacker case. L'Enfant was the one where the restaurant owner is abducted and tortured by extremists; he escapes and returns to the states, only to begin receiving nonstop threatening phone calls at his restaurant. There have been no leads in the case, and that is what disturbs me about it. |

Diane Shawcroft & Jennifer Lueth deserves to be mentioned. It's eerie enough that their killer hasn't been caught. In addition, there's a good chance that their killer went to their graves and stole their photos as a reminder of their deaths. Creepy to the extreme.
