my brother says that if you're collecting unemployment; there's a waiting period before you can go on medicare. I never heard that! Can someone confirm this?

Do you mean Medicaid? Either way I don't know since I've never used either one.

my brother IS disabeled (he has my condition) and my physical therapist (who would know; she's been named one of the top 3 in the nation, gotten a few awards for p.t. been interviewed on radio, TV, in the newspaper, in magazines and has spoken in publicc) says that he'd DEFINETLY be eligable.
