Right now and for the past week I've been visiting sites about Father Knows Best,The Donna Reed Show,Hazel,The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet,I Love Lucy,Honeymooners,Leave it to Beaver,Make Room For Daddy and many others.
I've been listening to their theme songs religously and I'm truly adddicted.....care for a poem: For the week that just past Though it won't be the last I was aquainted with shows that became hits very fast. Donna Reed and Robert Young They all climb the ladder rung by rung. Majorie Lord and Shirley Booth They can all fit in my house under one roof. Jerry Mathers and Lucille Ball I'd love to see them shopping at the mall. Ozzie,Harriet,Abbot and Costello I love to see them give it a go. The Andersons,The Cleavers The Stones,The Lanes The Nelsons,The Baxters The Ricardos,The Mertz The Kramdens and Nortons The Mitchells and McCoys They all fill the void May black and white families unite Because they always give me a feeling that's just rght. I still like 70s and 80s and 60s and 90s shows too though! |

You know, there is a pill for this sort of addiction.

is definitely "I Love Lucy". I love that show SO much. It's my #1 all-time favorite.
Others Black and White sitcoms I like are: ~ "The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour" (all of the seasons were b&w) ~ "The Lucy Show" (1st season was b&w) ~ "The Munsters" (all of the seasons were b&w) ~ "The Andy Griffith Show" (first five seasons were b&w) ~ "Bewitched" (1st two seasons were b&w) ~ "I Dream of Jeannie (1st season was b&w) ~ "Dennis the Menace" (all of the seasons were b&w) ~ "The Honeymooners" (all b&w) ~ "My Three Sons" (the first five seasons were b&w) um . . . that is about it for now. |

There were a lot of great sitcoms done in black and white. I personally liked the old Jack Benny show.
But in my opinion the best sitcoms of all time were done in color i.e. Love American Style, Odd Couple, Sandford & Son etc. But I guess it is a matter of personal taste, I am not so much concerned with the color or lack thereof as I am with the writing, acting etc. I think the programs of the 50s and early 60s were very limited to what they could do or say. Television cesorship was big during this era. |
