Yes, Michael Scott was an idiot. He was also selfish, egocentric and was a general pain in the ass.

Michael Scott got the job of Regional Manager because he was the best salesman, and he was the best salesman in the company. An early episode was him with Jan Levinson and a client, and Jan objecting to the place (Chili's) where the meeting was held and was initially embarrassed at his sales pitch, but soon learned that Michael knew better than her on how to sell.

Personally, I found his character too cartoonish and got too much screen time (because Carrell was the star). I like shows like this when it is more of an ensamble and I think it is better now than it was before.

That's a good question. I don't think he was the Village Idiot. There were times where I saw Michael display intelligence. Dumbos can't sell the way Michael could. I think he was more of a weirdo than anything.

no he was just very easygoing until you ticked him off but he was not dumb and when push came to shove he was no pushover ether
