Back in the early 70s, when I was a kid, there was a department store called "Two Guys" where I lived. One day the Brady kids were there promoting their record and signing autographs. I was 11 then. I went in to look at toys and didn't even know they were there until I walked in the back as that's where they were at and saw Barry Williams. It was him, Christopher Knight, Mike Lookinland and Susan Olson that day. The other Brady's were not there. They had these tables set up so you could walk in get an autographed record and walk out. Mike and Susan were over in the toy isle, where I was supposed to be going, just looking at toys. Barry and Chris were signing records. I got up on one of the tables right behind Barry and kept calling him Greg. I could hear this man saying to me, "His name is Barry kid, not Greg" Like what 11 year old kid read the credits on a TV show back then. I could tell I was ticking Barry off, I was breathing on his neck, I was so close to him. He didn't say anything to me at first, he just gave me a weird look, like I was a bug or something. He finally turned to me and said. "Kid would you get away from me? If you get inline I will give you a free signed record, but just get away from me" So I did and he did, but I accidentally left the record in the toy isle. At the toy isle is when I saw Mike and Susan, but they wouldn't talk to me. At least Barry did.

Well he certainly could have handled it better even though he was young too. And big deal your calling him Greg - you were a kid - if you had been an adult it perhaps would have been a different story.
Never super taken with Barry, my impression is he milks being Brady for all its worth - and after a while, its tiring and not that much. Gimme Florence anyday. |

That's an interesting experience. It sounds like Barry acted reasonably because some celebrities don't like when people try to get extra time when they are trying to sign books. The other two who didn't talk to you had been conditioned to act that way when some fans who preceded you probably got too pushy.
It's always fun to hear about other people's "brushes with greatness." |

All I said to Mike and Susan was "How's it going?" I didn't get pushy with them. Susan did say "Bye now" that's all she said as her and Mike walked off. I didn't dare follow them because they might have started yelling at me. Atleast that's how I felt at the time.
