Default Rachel's overrated!!! Phoebe rules!!!

As I stopped to look at my daily paper reading news of Jennifer Aniston winning a People's Choice Award while at the same time yet another photo of her peeks out from the cover of a magazine, I have become a bit befuddled and completely amazed by the apparent sheer immenseness of her current popularity and how it dwarfs all of the other "Friends". I have come to the conclusion that this is all caused by two key factors:

1. Her hair, the most copied and talked about hairstyle on TV since Farrah Fawcett;

2. Her marriage to Hollywood beefcake, hunk, and all-around pretty boy Brad Pitt, who, to be perfectly honest, couldn't act his way out of a paper bag, although he gave it a good try when he made his inevitable appearance on "Friends" a few weeks back.

Now think back to the beginning of the show's run. It wasn't supposed to be this way. The show's braintrust behind the camera made every attempt to make sure that all 6 of its stars shared in its success equally and that no one would stand out among the others. This would inevitably lead to a growing chemistry between certain characters (Ross & Rachel, Chandler & Monica) that has kept the storylines more interesting each week. But somewhere along the way Jennifer/Rachel became the 'chosen one' and, to their credit, the others couldn't be happier.

Now when I first watched the show, I tuned in to see Lisa Kudrow. She was simply hysterical as Ursula on "Mad About You" and I was hoping that Phoebe would be just as funny and just as likeable, and she has proven me right on both counts in nearly every episode. In fact, the more I've watched her the more I liked her to the point where she has become my favorite character on the show. I'll even go so far as to say that not only is she the best looking out of the 3 girls but also the funniest and the most talented. This is proven every year by the fact that she always seems to be the one that gets Emmy nominations ahead of most of the others and her movie roles are better than her other co-stars as well. I believe that "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion" is easily the best movie featuring a "Friends" star since "Ace Ventura" (which I did not watch because of Courtney Cox). Since then she has also worked with other great Hollywood stars like Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn, Meg Ryan, and John Travolta, to name a few, further proof of how Hollywood has recognized her many talents. So I say let's step off the Rachel bandwagon for a while and let's salute Phoebe for a change. Besides, wouldn't you love to see Joey pick her over Rachel? That would really make my day!

Before anyone responds to my original post, and I know some of you will have a lot to say about it, I just wanted to clarify part of what I said in the above quote so that everyone is clear about what I meant. What I meant to say is that I saw "Ace Ventura" and loved it specifically because Jim Carrey was hilarious in it and by comparison Courtney Cox did very little. The movie's success is largely due to Carrey. Everyone else in it merely watched as he inflicted his comic genius across America for the first time. I did not want to imply that I didn't want to see the film because Courtney Cox was in it. I've always liked her but Lisa Kudrow is still my favorite "Friend" and always will be for the reasons that I've already outlined and which you are free to agree or disagree with as you see fit. It's now up to you.

Okay I believe you're right....... Rachel's character for some reason (all of a sudden is becoming so popular and dwarfting everyone else). It's because she's married to Brad. Pheobe is the most talented actress out of the 3 females. I would pay money to see a movie with her.

I couldn't agree with you more. I used to like Aniston but now that she has stolen everyone else's thunder, honest, I can't stand her. Yeah, she is funny, but Phoebe is WAY funnier than her. Yeah, she's cute, but nobody seems to acknowledge the fact that her famous hair is, when not artificially straightened out, a total disaster (I wish I could post a picture of what her actual hair looks like here, but I'm sure you all know what I'm saying anyway). BTW, Monica is better good-looking than her too.
Waves for Phoebe, she rules!
