Default Marci X

When I first returned to this page after a brief absense, we were one minute shy of half an hour from the time that I posted my last message. I was very amazed to see that in that amount of time, my thread had already generated eight replies! I guess that I am not the only one who has little to do on a Saturday Night! In any event, I would like to commemorate this experience by writing about something that happened eight years ago. At this point in history, my favorite movie of all-times made its debut! The movie that I am referring to is "Marci X"! Is anyone here familiar with it? It took the place of "The Frisco Kid" as my favorite movie. In between then and now, the "Mamma Mia!" movie has made its debut. That movie is now tied with the "Frisco Kid" as my second favorite. In any event, I am crazy about Lisa Kudrow! This movie featured the song "The Power in my Purse". This song took the place of "Dancing Queen" as my favorite song ever. In any event, it is my understanding that this movie was completed by 2000. But for some reason, they shelved it until they had some dead time to fill in 2003. I was surprised to see how little success it had at the box office not to mention syndication! Go figure peoples' tastes!

It has to do with site traffic (or absence there of) on this "Gimme a Break!" page. If you would like to know more about my school of thought about how little action this site in general and the "Gimme a Break!" page has gotten in the in recent past, just read my threads titled "You Tube Action" or "The Reunion"! If you were to respond to either one, you would be the first person to do so! Other pages that I frequent that also seem to be dead zones are those of "Mad About You" and "Caroline in the City". Just like "Gimme a Break!" those shows had their day and now they have been pushed into history (if not pre-history)! One last page that I would like to mention is "Happy Days". Even though that show is older than and been off of the air longer than any I have previously mentioned, it still gets the occasional post by someone other than me. Any thoughts as to why this is?

I noticed that this thread has been pushed to the bottom of this page. Most of what has pushed it there is my more recent failed attempts to stimulate some conversation on this page! In any event, I am now bringing it to the top to see if any newcommers would like to respond to it. Because of how much of a flop of a movie "Marci X" was, I am guessing that most of you have never even heard of it. In any event, I would now like to offer you guys some more trivia about the movie and how it pertains to "Gimme a Break!". Like I mentioned in my innitial post, this movie starred Lisa Kudrow. She is left-handed. Ever since my early twenties, I have had a big soft spot for lefties! Ever since then, I have thought of left-handed females to be rather cute! I would say that Lisa Kudrow is probably my favorite lefty of them all! When "Gimme a Break!" made its debut, it featured one lefty in the person of Kari Michaelsen. By season three, they had added a second lefty in the person of Joey Lawrence. That means that, for three years there was an overlap of two lefties! On top of this, I also mentioned how the song "The Power in my Purse" was featured in "Marci X". While Lisa was rapping, she was swinging around her little Chennel bag by the carrying strap. What a sexy site! Very remminicent of the time that Julie Kinisky was swinging around her shoulder purse in "Julie's Rejection". And last but not least, before Kari Michaelsen was picked for the part of Katie Kinisky, one of the babes considered was Helen Hunt. She was born in 1963. So was Lisa Kudrow!

By re-reading my last post on this thread, I realize that I made it after it had been pushed to the very botton of the first page of this section. Now I see that it has made it to that stage again! Once again, most of what has pushed it there has been failed attempts by me to stimulate some conversation about this fine series! In any event, in my last post I mentioned things that Kari Michaelsen from this series had in common with Lisa Kudrow who starred in the movie. One thing that I concentrated on quite a bit was that there are both left-handed. Well, on top of that, their characters were quite similar in some ways too. Katie was depicted as a rather shallow and superficial person. In various other threads, I have mentioned my fondness for the third-season episode "Samantha's Protest". The thing that I liked most about this episode was seeing Katie's shallow, superficial mentality (as well as her existance as a flurt) backfire on her. Well, on the surface, Lisa Kudrow's character from the movie appeared to be, more or less a shop-till-you-drop Jewish American Princess. However, as the movie progressed, she proved to have quite a bit of substance and was quite charitable. It was because of this that I thought that she deserved to marry the rapper from Harlem at the end of the story. On the other hand, I thought that Katie deserved not be even get asked out to the handsome boy that she flurted her butt off with at the protest!
