Default Do you think the separation between Lionel and Jenny was wrote in the script because

the producers felt those characters were no longer needed?

I mean when Mike Evans returned in season 6, the following season he and berlinda tolbert was barley used. Characters like Florence and Mr. Bentley were used more than the kids of the 4 main people of the show...The Jeffersons and Willises.

I will never understand how Mike Evans was used more on AITF and used less on the Jeffersons.

I think it was because Mike Evans was miserable on The Jeffersons. He was never as happy there as he was on All in the Family....

Why did they hire him back if they wasn't going to use him? You know the agenda should have been clear to everyone in 1975 when you only saw Sherman and Isabel in the opening credits of season 1-lol

I mean he was their son but wasn't seen in the opening during season 1

But the show was about the parents and not the kids. Their appearances started strong in season six and it kinda fizzled out during season seven. They made their appearance in season eight. By nine, Lionel was out of the country. In 1985, they were on the verge of divorce. I wonder if they divorce would have not come into play if the producers knew that the 11th season would be their last?

No because I remember reading a article january of 85 that talked about how the divorce episode was going to be part february sweeps month. So at that time they had no clue that the current season was their last

Oh. So the SL writted for the purpose for scoring ratings? IDK, in the long run, did it do them any good to do that? The plus side is that it did bring Lionel and Jenny back on the scene.

It wasn't written for ratings but CBS saved the two-parter it for February Sweeps in 1985 to compete with the A-Team

If it was saved to compete with the A-Team, then it had to be for ratings. Ratings for The Jeffersons over the A-Team based on what you're saying.

That, and they were also probably running out of storyline ideas.
