Is the show so timeless that it could be made over? Or is it a show that basically spoke to viewers of the 1970's? If so, who of the modern day actors could pull off these classic characters?

No,they tried it with the terrible Mary/Rhoda movie and it was a flop.
The cast are quite eldely now which likely means a new cast,so,no thank you. Its the talent of the orginal cast that made the show the hit it was,along with great writing. Look at the movie of Bilko,it bombed. |

Probably not. It's very hard to intentionally resurrect a masterpiece. Usually doen't work.

The premise of the show was very groundbreaking in the early 1970's: a single working woman who was content with her life. The show changed the mindset of American women and because of that, many women now fit that mold. It wouldn't make sense to remake the show when the premise is no longer groundbreaking.
