When I saw the thread on the Seinfeld board about Jerry Seinfeld not watching his own show, it made me think of David Hyde Pierce. I've seen and read many interviews where he's asked if he ever watches "Frasier". In one particular interview taped while he was still doing "Curtains", he was asked if he ever watched "Frasier" and he said that if he got home from doing the show and it was on he would sit down and watch it.
Personally I think that is so cool because he said that he may not remember the storyline but he'll remember things that happened while they were filming that particular episode. It really is a testament to how much he loved doing this show that he'd actually sit down and watch it. I don't remember ever having heard of another actor being so enthusiastic about watching their own show. Of course he worked with Kelsey, John, Jane and the rest of the cast and crew for 11 years so there has to be a family bonding there which I think is wonderful. To be that close to people you work with is really a blessing. Unfortunately I've never had that experience although I do have one friend at work right now with whom I've been friends since 1999 when we worked together at another company, but she's not really someone that I hang around with. There's a thread around here about celebrities who have stated that they hated their own work, but I kind of wish there was one for those who say that they loved their work. That's probably a rare thing, unfortunately but I'm glad that DHP is one that loved being on Frasier because he certainly made it an amazing show to watch. |

I love how he watches Frasier. Or at least used to. I know Jane said in an interview that her husband would watch it. She would come home to find that it was on.
I think Frasier had the best cast in recent years...

I agree with all of this! I think it's great that David watches Frasier, it's funny that Jane's husband watched it. It makes me wonder how he feels seeing Jane as Daphne kissing David as Niles. I have always been curious. I doubt it bothered him though, since they were all good friends in real life and they were just acting. It was a family but it was professional as well. I think that was part of the success of the show, that the entire cast got along.
Just a genius show, period!

I didn't know that Jane's husband watched Frasier as well. That's cool! Love that he's so supportive of her!

I love that Jane and DHP both still watch. I'm sure they all have great memories of doing the show. I bet it's emotional to see "Goodnight, Seattle," too, esp. that last scene.
