liking this show as much as I do. I had about 8 episodes on my DVR to watch so last night I sat down and finally watched about 4 of them. The first episode is hilarious but I noticed that the more eps I watched, the raunchier they became. There's not really any nudity or anything but just things they say are a little bit over the top for network TV. I was just surprised at how raunchy it is and I wish they would tone it down a little bit.
I do like the show though because it has some really funny moments and I like the characters; especially the pairing of Alex and Whitney. However it's been a long time since I've actually watched a prime time TV show on Network TV so I'm sure I'm way behind in the 'progress'-or "regression" as it were. Even my husband pointed out just the other day that the more the seasons of Frasier progressed, the raunchier it became and as much as I love that show I tend to agree. Fortunately it wasn't ever so much that I couldn't stand to watch it anymore. So I guess that's just the way TV is these days. It's too bad that these shows feel like they have to do stuff like that to get ratings. But even I admit that sometimes stuff like that is funny. It depends on how it's used. |

I don't feel bad for liking it. My kids commented on how I hardly watch sitcoms any more - there are so few really good ones to watch.
I'm enjoying the characters and how their stories are being played out. |

Sadly, Andrea, network TV now feels it has to compete for viewers with cable, internet etc. and so the standards are dropping lower all the time and network shows are getting raunchier. That being said I watch this pretty regularly. At first I thought the acting wasn't very good. (especially Whitney herself who was delivering her lines like a stand up comic) But it has improved and has kept me watching.

I probably would have watched it if the reviews were good and the ratings were better. As it is, it probably still has a chance to be renewed. If it does, maybe I'll catch up with it.

I had almost forgotten that I started this thread because I haven't watched the show in a long time! Now I feel guilty about that! LOL

I saw parts of the pilot and they were truly some of the worst scenes I've ever seen on a TV show. The writing was embarrassing and the acting was even worse. But I've heard the show got a little better...still don't have much of a desire to check it out though.
I am interested to see what NBC will do with it though. It seemingly has very little promise going forward but at the same time the ratings were better than anyone expected them to be. They weren't particularly good but they were passable for NBC. |

The pilot was incredibly over-the-top, and was not very promising. I was quite disappointed with it since I am such a huge fan of Whitney Cummings. However, it did drastically improve and became one of the only shows that I watch on a regular basis. The main problem with it now is the supporting cast, particularly the men. If it gets picked up for another season, I would like to see them make some minor cast adjustments.
