NOW FEATURING...THE SECRET OF GILLIGAN'S ISLAND
This is not one of my favorite episodes. Unlike the actors, I am not always
enthralled with dream sequence episodes. I absolutely love the Bustrophadon joke--the way the Professor just rattles that stuff off in the scene! Ginger was the only one who looked attractive as a caveperson. My husband always makes fun of the bat on a string and going backwards in the cave. There is a moment where Gilligan's face looks weird in the tree. I do sympathize with Gilligan about being told to get the fruit and then no one wanting it! It's interesting that that fall of Gilligan's out of a tree is so much worse in the Skipper's eyes than the others. Couldn't they just reverse the directions (like going backwards on Mapquest)? |

I don't think that is Gilligan in the tree. I think that's Bob Denver's stand-in. Anyone agree?
I always say Gilligan et al started the trend for UGG boots in this episode Their special effects were always to die for, weren't they. The bat on a string, the giant deadly cushion-spider from The Pigeon, Janos Prohaska's gorilla outfit (mind you, he was a convincing gorilla.) Gilligan says he's been using that piece of rock as a tray for months but it's the first time we've seen it! And yes, the poor kid was always being sent off to get fruit or whatnot just to get him out of the way. Y'know, while some serious (snerk) thinking was going on. I love how Caveman Howell makes a play for Ginger and Mrs. Howell clonks him with her club. The man deserves it for having no taste I always thought Bob D had a fit body and looked good in anything but the wig here cracks me up My favourite is the wheel gag when they just push it over. |

This episode's ok. Not one of my favorites, but the dream sequence makes me laugh, even though it's ridiculous.
I love the wheel gag! (But he does figure it out later. He has it when they're trying to leave, but it doesn't make it into a cart or anything - he's just wheeling it around for no reason! haha). I also think it's interesting when the cave-girls are lamenting that the guys run too fast on this side of the hill and they can't catch them. Clearly G Man (or more likely his subconscious) is aware of their pursuit of the guys. And the fact that they keep failing, haha. |

when Ginger seduces Mr. Howell she is oozing with sexuality. Would they send the chipmunk Mary Ann to rescue Gilligan and the Skipper? yeah sure that would work!!! lol not in my book
