Question Who Did You Prefer? Isaiah Edwards Or Jonathan Garvey As Charles Ingalls Sidekick?

Who did you prefer more as the sidekick to Charles on Little House on The Prairie?

I don't have a preference, really.

I liked them both but I loved Mr. Edwards. He was hilarious! I still ROFL when I see that episode where he nailed Carrie's dress to the roof to keep her from moving when he was babysitting the girls!

Without a doubt, Mr. Edwards. He was a more three dimensional character than Jonathan, who came across as wooden and boring. Mr.Edwards always sang 'Old Dan Tucker' when he was happy, and taught Laura how to spit. But at the same time he had a dark side. His first wife and daughter died tragically and he struggled with alcoholism and depression.

You must have missed the episodes where Garvey's wife dies horribly in that house fire, and he is understandably so torn up that he has to take his son and begin a new life in another town.
And how about the time he and Charles trailed Albert and Andy while they delivered a letter across the wilds of MN to try to prove to the kids that they weren't ready to be treated as grownups. Or when Jonathan came to Charles' aid and beat up that bouncer and his friends after they attacked Charles, and got himself a job from it as well. I loved Jonathan's comment when they returned to Mary's party and Charles stated to Mary's inquiry that she thought he might have gotten into a fight with those bullies by saying that he "was a farmer, not a fighter." And Jonathan adds in, "You can say that again!"

I would choose Edwards if I had to pick, but I liked them both.

I just watched both of those episodes this week. The one where Johnathan Garvey and Charles were following Albert and Andy was hilarious the way they got so far behind. And I didn't see the actual episode where Alice dies, but I saw the one after that. Merle Olson was wonderful in those scenes.

Victor French. Mostly because I loved Victor French as Michael Landon's sidekick on their other show Highway To Heaven.
