I believe that Mary was the news producer. But I think she was initially hired as a news writer.

A quick check at wikipedia reveals that Mary was hired as Associate Producer, then was promoted to full News Producer.

Could some one tell me what exactly an associate producer does? I sorta have to be one on Friday for a fake news station we are putting together for my Broadcasting class.
