Default Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon or Conan O'Brien and Andy Richter

Which late night pairing you like better Johnny and Ed or Conan and Andy?

I like the team of Conan and Andy because they bring out the best in each other and Conan does not have a problem with Andy getting the upper hand on him in their comedy together. It was reported that Johnny did not like anyone outtopping him.

I don't quite agree with that. If it had not been for Andy Conan would not even been on today. On Late Night Andy was an afterthought for a sidekick because it was said that Conan was so nervous performing on stage during the rehearsals before Late Night debuted. They had Andy to come on stage that might helped calm Conan's nerves down. Well their rapport was so great that he became not only a writer but a sidekick. When Andy went on his own in 2000 if you see the clip on YouTube Conan got quite emotional about him leaving.

I love their comedy bits together and they bring out the best in each other. I do miss Max but Jimmy is holding his own well there too. Personally Conan and Andy are helping each other out.

You just can't top Johnny and Ed. Though I would say that Conan and Andy are this generation's Johnny and Ed IMO.

I agree with that one. The only exception it was said Johnny did not like anyone outtopping him. There are times Andy can outtop Conan and vise versa but those two can play off each other very well.
