For those who have been following Lisa's case, I thought I would let you know that Discovery ID - On the Case With Paula Zahn is going to air a program about the her case November 20th at 10 PM EST. In the course of our interviews, it appears that their primary focus is on the course the investigation took over the years.
BTW - The Discovery ID channel is usually in the upper channel ranges. |

I just saw the re run of the Paula Zahn special, a lot of fascinating facts left out of the UM segment.
To start, the local sheriff was a suspect because he strangely would deny federal help, taking a "we've got this" approach even when they needed FAR more resources for the case. Of course the family and his fellow colleagues were bewildered at his behavior. Then a witness said they saw him pull Lisa over the night she went missing. Once the FBI finally got involved and questioned him, he flipped out. Tried to commit suicide with pills but failed. It looked like it was him. He was eventually cleared with DNA, but he did commit suicide 2 years later. The other thing I didn't know was this case was one of the first to use CODIS to match a unknown DNA with someone in the database, how about that? They may have said it actually was the first, pretty astounding. Other things included was the school bus they think Lisa was held captive in for 6 days. Very haunting, that poor girl must have been dreading her time there. Also, I don't remember if the UM segment mentioned a letter left on Lisa's grave. Kind of a neat story, the guy that originally headed the investigation retired and came back when the perp was in court to testify that the handwriting matched known handwriting of the killer. He was very happy for the case to be solved and to contribute even in retirement. I am just glad this is not unsolved anymore, the family deserved the truth and the perp deserved justice. |
