Default Nick at Nite/TV Land News from the Winter Tour

Basic News from the MTV/VH1/Nickelodeon TCA Winter Tour sessions:

- TV Land and Nick at Nite will carry a three-part special, "Inside TV Land: African Americans in Television," premiering Feb. 1, 15 and 22 in conjunction with Black History Month. Described as TV Land's most ambitious original production to date, the special narrated by "Barney Miller" alum Ron Glass will examine the role black performers have played in the history of television. The first of the hourlong specials will be devoted to variety show stars, followed by hours devoted to comedy and drama series.

- Nickelodeon has tapped actor Donovan Patton as the new host of its preschooler hit "Blue's Clues." Patton, known for his work in New York theater, will debut on the show April 22 as current host Steve Irwin breaks the news to his young audience that he is leaving to go to college.

- NBC's new sitcom "Scrubs" was named the TV Land Future Classic of 2001. "The show's superb cast, excellent writing and rapid pace are a significant and welcome departure from the familiar sitcom formula," said Larry Jones, executive vp and general manager at TV Land, which has conferred its annual future classic honors on new primetime series since 1998.

- TV Land said it will bow popular 1960s series Batman April 29 with a weeklong primetime marathon.
Looks like it won't be March 25th right now, but that could change. As of now it has been moved to April 29.
Stay tuned...

Though I have never seen Scrubs, I have to say that TV Land, home of 2 Aaron Spelling shows, has no business giving out Future Classic awards.

LOL But I love "The Love Boat" & "Charlie's Angels"! And for the plots too lol. IMO, I think Aaron's 70s and 80s dramas were the best

How can they tell it's going to be a classic when it's only been
on for one season so far?
Personally I hate it whenever one of the networks calls a new
series a "hit" after only the first week or so.
I think they should really wait and see how long it lasts.
