Yes, Hagman was a star of this sitcom, but did his bad behavior and trying to sabotage the show itself cancel that out? Should Larry Hagman be rewarded for his past behavior or for that matter be punished for his past behavior? While Barbara Eden has embraced her "Jeannie" past, Larry Hagman has mostly shied away from it.

...before production of the 1985 and '91 reunion movies began, if he wanted to appear as "Tony Nelson" again. Hagman politely declined, as he claimed he was busy with "DALLAS". In reality, he wanted nothing to do with "JEANNIE" {he simply didn't want to be "second fiddle" to Barbara again, and there were too many bad memories he preferred not to relive}. In recent years, he has appeared with Barbara on special occasions, and reunions on various talk and interview shows.

I never watched the reunion movies because Larry wasn't in them. IMO he was as responsible for the show's success as Barbara. I know he tried to hide from IDOJ for years. It's great that he finally realized that the show is a classic. I wish he would have realized it alot sooner.

According to both Barbara and Bill, there is only the movie in discussion. All three have been asked if they'd participate, and all have given a "yes", but so far....that movie has been in talking stages only. With Bill and Larry both in their 80s now, and Barbara about 3 years younger, who knows whether it would ever happen.
Sometimes age gives us a different perspective. I think Larry has realized that IDOJ gave him opportunities later that he might not have without it. Give him the benefit of the doubt. |

Hagman is what made the show just as much as Eden. His reactions and pratfalls were brilliant.

i really think larry hagman should have done the movies but in thinking back to them they kinda sucked.maybe his presence could have salvaged at least one of them.but they lacked the original feeling that show had in the sixties.i never though he was second fiddle to barbera eden they were so good together.jr. was such a different character from tony nelson,in the big picture nelson was much more like able but maybe hagman felt jr was more memorable.
