Default New Update : Rare 1970's & 1980's Original Broadcasts ( w/o/c )

New Update : Rare 1970's & 1980's Original Broadcasts ( w/o/c )

( Oct. 2011 ) With Original Commercials DVD Trading List Update !
----------------------------------------------------------------

I have updated my w/o/c dvd trading list , and I have included Classic Network T.V. Shows With Original Commercials from the 1970's - 1980's. This time I have included some very rare Chico And The Man Episodes , These Are Very Rare Airings ! I have also included some rare Jeffersons , Three's Company & Eight is Enough episodes. I have hundreds of airings still yet to be added to my already huge list. I am always looking for used blank beta tapes that have recordings made on them from the 1970's - 1980's , so if you have any old beta tapes stored away somewhere and want to get rid of them , send me a email. Also keep the t.v. show trade lists coming in ! I am always setting up new trades. I am very interested in any rare
Three's Company or Dukes of Hazzard stuff.

My update is listed at the bottom of this message.

Thanks , Porkys1982

I contacted him a couple times in the past with items he would be interested in, but never heard back either. I don't think he's an actual person/poster, just a computer program that randomly spits out have lists.

I traded with this poster probably 6 or 7 years ago successfully, and got some good stuff, but not recently.

Ben is one my all-time favorite traders. I have done a number of successful trades with him on VHS and later DVD-R and have always been very happy.
I highly recommend him. I am sure he's not intentionally ignoring anybody.

Sadly if a trader sees nothing on your list that they want most likely they won't get back to you. That's just the reality of trading. And let's face it, whatever Ben is looking for has to be VERY RARE

Well when you approach a trader for the first time you send your list and wait to see if they get back to you. If they don't then they are not interested.

No different than being on a dating service and sending someone a message and that person not responding because they don't like what they see.

I'm guilty of the same thing. I have received a list from traders and i didn't see anything that jumped out at me and I would not respond. Basically you have to know what type of things the person you are emailing would want. Now take Ben for example, based on his list you know the only thing he would want is original airings with commercials he doesn't have. It wouldn't make sense for someone to contact Ben and offer cable versions of certain shows or original airings without commercials because you would be wasting his time. After I had a couple of trades with Ben, I had nothing else to offer him because he had pretty every original airing that surfaced in the trading community. I personally think he should retire from trading because there is nothing you can offer him LOL

One little trick I've picked up over the years is to send a real basic email first just explaining who you are, how you found them, and then offer to send your have list. If you receive no response, then the email address may be inactive, your message may have ended up in their spam folder, or they may not be interested in trading. However, if they reply to your initial message and seem interested, send your list in the second email. If they blow you off after that, then assume you don't have anything of interest to them.

When I first started out, with my then-small collection, I used to think that not responding at all was rude. And then as I became a more active trader, and my collection grew, I became flooded with requests -- not just from people who had stuff to trade, but from people who had absolutely nothing to trade, people who wanted me to sell (something I don't do), people who wanted me to upload stuff to youtube (something else I don't do), people wanting me to trade for blanks (something else I don't do) and even people who would just want me to send them stuff for free. And it's just not feasible for me or anyone to respond to all of that.

However, if Person A posts looking for something(s) and person B is polite enough to respond that they have it, then i think Person A should be obligated to respond. Even if they don't accept the trade, they should at least respond with a thanks. I take posting a request as a public plea for help and if someone is polite enough to respond that they have it and offer help, and that person doesn't respond, it's being rude and unappreciative. Unfortunately, this is quite common, though I do think there are some exceptions to the rule.
