Danny Elfman on Whether the "Dark Shadows" Theme Will Be in the Movie
Danny Elfman on Whether the "Dark Shadows" TV Theme Will Be in Tim Burton's Movie
by Joseph McCabe 10/24/11 On Friday I had the opportunity to check out the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's Tim Burton retrospective, which runs through October 31st. While I was there I also attended a special presentation and question-and-answer session with three of Burton's key collaborators: production designer Rick Heinrichs, costume designer Colleen Atwood, and composer Danny Elfman. During the Q and A, Elfman was asked whether or not the iconic "Dark Shadows" TV theme music will be used in Tim Burton's upcoming film adaptation. "We had this discussion with Batman, about whether we wanted to incorporate the TV theme. Tim said, 'No, don't do that.' And on Planet of the Apes, once again, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; that was a big one – 'Do we incorporate it in?' 'No.' So I'm just guessing that he's gonna say no again, that he's gonna want to develop his own language and dialogue for this. Having said that, who knows? You may just hear a theramin!" http://www.fearnet.com/news/b24317_d...lsquodark.html |
