Question Was 'Rhoda' Better Or Worse With Nancy Walker???

I'd like to get every fans opinion on this.

What were your thoughts on Ida Morgenstern. Was she better in a small dose like on TMTMS or better as a regular character on Rhoda? Did the show hurt when Nancy Walker left to do other things?

VERY small doses. I'm not sure if it was Walker or the character itself, but Ida is far from one of my favorites.

yeah, I think the writers made her annoying on purpose. The whole folklore of a Jewish Mother etc....

I liked Ida. Rhoda and Brenda were great while interacting with "Ma".

The show suffered when she left at the beginning of season 3. Everybody knew it and she was back for the season 4 premiere. I don't think there would have been a Rhoda without Nancy Walker on board.

Yes Rhoda without Nancy Walker, wouldn't have been as good as we saw in season3.

They did seem to have Ida around more in seasons 4 and 5,than in seasons 1 and 2.

I love Nancy Walker and greatly enjoy her as Ida! In fact, every-time I watch an ep. of this show, I do so with the anticipation of seeing her and am let-down when she isn't in an ep.

She and Brenda are the two characters I like the best, so I def. think not having her on the show was bad.

She wouldn't have come back to Rhoda if The Nancy Walker Show and Blansky's Beauties hadn't of both got cancelled.

Then you have to wonder if Rhoda would have gone to a fourth season if they didn't anticipate Nancy coming back.

That is so true and when she did come back it was too late.

Rhoda with Nancy Walker is always better than Rhoda without Nancy. I don't know how anyone would NOT want her there.

You take away Ida and you take away a lot of laughs.

Definitely better with Nancy Walker/Ida. I liked her a lot. Her and Brenda were my favorite characters.
