Foreign Exchange Student - they never said his real name I don't think, and they never really revealed exactly what country he came from either...

Anytime Fez said anything about where he came from or what his real name was there would be a loud background noise that would prevent us from hearing what he was saying. In that way they kept Fez's real name and country of origin a mystery to viewers.

I'm not sure how FES (Foreign Exchange Student) became FEZ but would it have something to do with how in other countries our Z is an S? Brazil here is Brasil in their country? Still that would be the opposite and don't make a whole lot of sense. Could just be because Fez sounds better or more foreign then Fes. Maybe because Fez is the type of person who looks like he should be wearing a "Fez" hat??????
