Angry Goodnight, Seattle (I'm Not in Kansas Anymore) But wait, I am!

I just got done watching Goodnight, Seattle on Hallmark and the vet that helps deliver David is from Kansas. They portrayed him as some dumb hick. Trust me, we are not like that. I have lived in Kansas all my life and we are very smart and there aren't that many farmers or "hicks" as a lot of TV shows portray.
I am proud to be a Kansas girl and am a bit offended that they portray us Kansans like that. I am kind of surprised they did that since Kirstie Alley is from Kansas and she was on Cheers.
I love the show and I loved the episode, I just felt that they were portraying Kansans in a bad light.
Okay, I'm done.

I didn't get that from that episode at all. I just thought the vet was young and inexperienced.

That episode made my eyes water. Anyway, now that they are showing the first ones I get the fun of seeing Niles discovering Daphne.

I'll have to watch that episode again, but I understand what you are saying. I hate when they portray people from other areas completely wrong. That episode with Bebe's finance being from Texas; when he asks Frasier to help her stop smoking? He was a little over the top. Being born and raised in Texas, it did make me laugh and a bit.

Not to defend the writers or anything but maybe they just created the character and then just picked a place at random. Probably didn't realize that someone would pick up on it. But I've seen stuff on Frasier that is supposed to happen in Seattle (like the Leap Year ep where it was 80 degrees in Februrary? That is SO not accurate! I mean, it barely gets up to 80 in the summer sometimes! But I'm always amazed at how many things they get right!

Got a question. Frasier was moving to San Francisco. Didn't he fly to Chicago? Was he just going to visit Charlotte? I tried to stay up to rewatch them again on Hallmark early this morning, but fell asleep when the gang thought Frasier was seriously ill. I thought I heard a voice say welcome to Chicago when the plane landed. Just wondered if he was just taking a trip, or decided to go be with Charlotte.

Yes, Frasier gave up his new job in San Francisco to be with Charlotte in Chicago.

Actually they kind of left it open-ended, so they didn't really say what happened. The episode ends with him talking to a woman on the plane, telling her what had happened up to that point. When the plane lands the announcement says that they are in Chicago. It's annoying not knowing what really happened but it's wonderful for people like myself (and many of my other Frasier friends!) who are fan-fiction writing addicts!

Personally I like to think that he went to visit her and then eventually she agreed to move to San Francisco with him. But either way, I'm glad he ended up with her because she was my favorite of all the women he dated.

My bad! I thought that since he landed in Chicago that meant he was giving up his job in San Francisco to be with Charlotte . Color me embarrassed.

I was wondering if it was one of those "make the ending whatever you want" kind of endings. My Frasier happy ending is Frasier and Charlotte in San Francisco together. I was discussing this with the bf a little while ago, and he was kind of lost also, but we're both blondes. Thanks for the replies. I was starting to think I was hearing things.

Perhaps Frasier would have struggled in Chicago with odd jobs out of his relm. Charlotte would have seen what he was going through to be with her and maybe she would decide to move her business to San Francisco.

Personally, I like that the ending was left open to interpretation. And as Andrea already pointed out, it does make for some interesting possibilities as far as fanfiction. And I know that several of us here have taken advantage of that fact, too. I think that, whether he ended up in Chicago or San Francisco, Frasier should definitely be with Charlotte. B/c after going through so many different women for 11 years (not to mention the women he was with in Boston!), it's about time he finally found someone to settle down with again. And after all, he wouldn't have to look any farther than his own younger brother to find an example of what true love looks like. (Yes, I did just bring a post about Frasier's love life around to N/D! Couldn't help myself! )

I love the finale, and it always makes me want to tear up, even though I don't get emotional at stuff. I always like to think that no matter where Frasier ended up, he's with Charlotte, like Kristen said. And maybe that they decided to move back to Seattle eventually, like I have them doing in one of my stories I'm still writing. I would think it would kill Frasier to be so far away from N/D's kids and even Martin. Not to mention Nervosa!

Perhaps he was going to Chicago to propose to Charlotte. I think after seeing his brother and father happy, he didn't want to lose his chance with Charlotte.

Exactly! After seeing what almost happened to N/D when Niles waiting until literally the last minute, he must have thought he needed to do whatever he had to do to be w/ Charlotte.
