KISS and Archie Fight Monsters in New Comic

If you thought the TV movie KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park was a bit of a stretch for the rock & roll overlords, you might not be ready for this one:

Teen comic-book hero Archie and his pals Betty, Veronica and Jughead – the same group (well, sort of) behind the #1 pop single "Sugar, Sugar" back in 1969 – will be teaming up with Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and company to do battle with monsters in a new Archie Comics storyline.

Archie writer Alex Segura stated that the four-issue series, which pits the two bands against vampires, werewolves and zombies, "brings together two pieces of Americana for the first time."

Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater, who describes himself as a "crazy KISS fan," added that "younger kids will enjoy the magical nature while older audiences will enjoy old rock 'n' roll."

In an article by the New York Post, Simmons assured the band's naughtier side would not tarnish the long-running comic's squeaky-clean reputation.

"KISS is all things to all people," he said. "A five or ten-year-old fan doesn't look at the lascivious nature of my tongue the same way someone much older would... such a thing is not obvious to a five-year-old, and nor should it be."

Somehow, describing it that way doesn't make it any less creepy... but if there's money in the making, you can be sure Gene's on it.

Archie Meets KISS will hit store shelves on November 30th... and if you're brave enough, you can get a closer look in the trailer below.
